Descripción

Scorching Light is a horror-action-platformer Game Boy game with puzzle elements.
You play as an individual in a mission to find the light world. Unfortunately, their dreams and hopes will became soon a nightmare.

Do not touch the light

Any light enemy, item or liquid you’ll find in your gameplay will kill our protagonist.

The core mechanic of my game is that you can hide from the light enemies by blending into the environment. You can also check if you’re hidden by seeing the eye on the bottom of the screen.

Notes

This is a real original Game Boy game made with GB Studio and playable here via the Binjgb emulator. A ROM is also available on my website.

I made this game as a solo developer in just a week (With a day job) for the Newgrounds Summer Game Jam 2026 with its theme “Hidden”.

No Generative AI was used in the making of this game

PEGI 12 (mild violence)

Only complaint is that the controls are not well described for a keyboard. I had to try just about every key to find that 'j' made me jump.

Thanks for the feedback. All the key bindings are available in the "How to play" section of this page. This time I didn't know where I would release my game (I'm experimenting a lot), so I added only the Game Boy keys in-game, leaving the player to read the manual for other control schemes. To compensate, there are a lot of common combinations available, so there isn't just one key for most interactions.
